Ravens

"Mrs Mitchell works hard to create exciting lessons, so we can discover more about the world, develop our skills and challenge ourselves to achieve."

"You always make everything we learn fun!" (Year 6 pupil.)

Welcome to Ravens

Welcome to Ravens’ class.  We are found in the classroom at the end of the corridor, opposite the playing field. We are a friendly class: full of people eager to get to know you, make you feel welcome and help you feel at home.  Mrs. Mitchell is our teacher and we receive support from several different TAs over the week, including: Mrs Allen, Mrs Fogg and Miss Callaghan. We are all members of the Ravens' class team. We work hard to create exciting lessons, so we can discover more about the world, develop our skills and challenge ourselves to achieve.

Homework

Reading – Your child will take a STAR Reader test each term which will determine which colour book-band they are on. We ask that they bring their school reading book home each day and that they spend time reading at home. When your child has finished a book, they will be able to take an Accelerated Reader quiz. Try to complete at least two quizzes each half-term.

A focus work sheet is sent home on a Monday with your child. This details the spelling list for the week as well as a guide to the areas to be covered in English and Maths. While this is not homework, it provides information about the type of work your child will aim to complete during the week.

PE (PE kit)

To see when your child has PE please click on this link to view the PE timetable.

Please also ensure that your child comes to school dressed in the appropriate kit on these days.  Please can you also ensure your child has their water bottle in school and has sunscreen applied or is wearing warmer PE kit depending on the weather forecast.

Please make sure that long hair is tied up on PE days, and earrings, if worn, are removed.

Trips and Visits

We are very lucky to be going on some fantastic trips this year and we will be taking part in some memorable experiences.   Trips are being planned for the rest of the year - watch this space!

In the Summer Term Year 6 have the opportunity to participate in a fantastic residential trip to PGL Caythorpe.

Performances

In the Summer Term, Year 5 and 6 pupils will be taking part in a production. It is a great way for the Year 6 children to sign off from Nene Valley before they embark on their Secondary school journey.
