Doves
Doves class is taught by Mr Shang and Mrs Jenkins, who enjoy teaching fun, engaging lessons. We work hard, but our teachers make learning really exciting. For good behaviour, hard work and positive attitude, we get prize tickets and at the end of the week we get to pick a treat if we get drawn out of the bucket.
Welcome to Doves
We are a mixed class of Years' 5 and 6. Our teachers are Mr Shang and Mrs Jenkins and our teaching assistants are Mrs Allen and Miss Callaghan. Doves class understand that we are some of the oldest pupils in the school and therefore we have lots of responsibilities to help keep the school running smoothly and to set a good example for the younger children of our school.
Homework
Reading: Your child will take a STAR Reader test each term which will determine which colour book-band they are on. We ask that they bring their school reading book home each day and that they spend time reading at home. When your child has finished a book, they will be able to take an Accelerated Reader quiz.
A focus work sheet is sent home on a Monday with your child. This details the spelling list for the week as well as a guide to the areas to be covered in English and Maths. While this is not homework, it provides information about the type of work your child will aim to complete during the week.
PE (PE kit)
To see when your child has PE please click on this link to view the PE timetable.
Please also ensure that your child comes to school dressed in the appropriate kit on these days. Please can you also ensure your child has their water bottle in school and has sunscreen applied or is wearing warmer PE kit depending on the weather forecast.
Please make sure that long hair is tied up on PE days, and earrings, if worn, are removed.

We are very lucky to be going on some fantastic trips this year and we will be taking part in some memorable experiences. Trips are being planned for the rest of the year - watch this space!

Performances
In the Summer Term, Year 5 and 6 pupils will be taking part in a production. It is a great way for the children to sign off from Nene Valley before they embark on their Secondary school journey.
