Year 3 & 4 Roman Day: A Journey Back in Time!
On Thursday, 3rd October 2024, our Year 3 and 4 students embarked on an exciting journey back to Ancient Rome! With classrooms transformed and imaginations running wild, Roman Day was truly an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.
The children, along with their teachers and teaching assistants, spent the day exploring what life was like for Romans through a carousel of fun and educational activities. Dressed in fantastic Roman costumes—thanks to the wonderful support from parents—our young historians made Roman coins, baked delicious Spelt bread, and even designed their own head wreaths! They also had the chance to create some rather "creative" Roman recipes, adding their own twist to ancient culinary ideas. It was a hands-on history lesson that had everyone fully immersed in the past.
A big highlight for many was dressing up as Romans and diving into activities: "My favourite part was making the head wreaths," one student said with a big smile on her face. Another shared, "I enjoyed watching the Horrible Histories story and writing a recipe." One child stated quite simply, "I enjoyed everything!". It was clear from the laughter and enthusiasm throughout the day that these activities brought the rich history of Ancient Rome to life in a truly memorable way.
We’d like to take this opportunity to extend a huge thank you to all the parents for providing such wonderful costumes and to our amazing staff for making this day so special for the children. It was a wonderful celebration of our history topic, and we are so proud of our young Romans for their enthusiasm and creativity.
