World Mental Health Day Assembly: A Message of Wellbeing from Mr. Goakes

Today is World Mental Health Day (10th October). On Monday, our students from Years 1 to 6 gathered in the hall for an inspiring assembly led by Mr. Goakes, our Trust Executive Deputy. The assembly focused on an incredibly important topic—mental health and how we can take care of our minds and bodies every day.

Mr. Goakes delivered an engaging presentation, guiding our students through different aspects of wellbeing, emphasising how each one of us can take simple steps to improve our mental health. The children listened attentively as he discussed four key areas: physical activity, nutrition, lifestyle, and mental positivity.

Physical Activity: Mr. Goakes talked about the importance of exercise and staying active. He encouraged children to find activities they enjoy, whether it's running, playing a sport, dancing, or even just taking a walk. Being physically active keeps us fit and helps boost our mood.

Nutrition: Next, he spoke about healthy eating and why drinking water and making good food choices are essential for our wellbeing. He reminded everyone that a balanced diet helps keep both our bodies and minds healthy and energised.

Your Life: Setting goals, getting enough sleep, and being creative were other key aspects discussed. Mr. Goakes asked everyone to think about their own lives, set positive goals, and take time to explore their creativity. Sleep, he noted, is crucial for feeling our best and staying focused throughout the day.

Your Mind: Finally, Mr. Goakes highlighted the importance of keeping a positive attitude and staying happy. He spoke about how taking time to relax, finding activities that make us happy, and staying motivated can help us maintain good mental health. He inspired the children to always try to look on the bright side, even when things get challenging.

The assembly was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate World Mental Health Day and remind ourselves that taking care of our mental health is just as important as taking care of our physical health. A huge thank you to Mr. Goakes for sharing these valuable lessons with us on Monday and for raising awareness about mental health!

We hope the children will take these messages to heart and continue practising the small but powerful habits that can make such a big difference to their overall wellbeing.
